Frank Lampard has put the ball firmly in Willian’s court as far as any decision regarding the player’s future at Chelsea is concerned.
The future of attacking midfielder Willian is still very much up in the air. The Brazilian missed this weekend’s FA Cup final through injury, and it remains to be seen if he will recover in time to play any part in the Champions League clash against Bayern Munich.
We may very well have seen Willian in the blue of Chelsea for the last time, and on the other hand, the odds are also quite favorable that he will commit to the Stamford Bridge outfit for a little while longer.
It is assumed one of those is Chelsea’s, and as far as Frank Lampard is concerned the payer can stay if he wants but the boss is equally happy for him to go.
In an interview reported by Goal, Lampard insists the decision is down to the player now.
“It is his decision, I haven’t got that answer, I know the situation at the club’s end.”
“I have a great relationship with Willian, but I don’t actually know what the decision is.”
“If that happens over the next whatever days, as he said, then that would be good for me in either way.”
“But it is his choice and I respect his choice. He has been a great servant for Chelsea if he decides to move on, and if he does decide to move on then Chelsea will move on and we have to look forwards ourselves.”
