Chelsea winger Willian is hopeful Eden Hazard hasn’t played his final game at Stamford Bridge amid reported interest from Real Madrid.
After surprisingly being left out of the Chelsea line-up in their 1-1 first-leg draw, Hazard started for Thursday’s return fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt in their Europa League semi-final tie.
The Belgian star assisted Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s 28th-minute opener to put Chelsea in control. Although, Luka Jovic equalised for Eintracht just four minutes after the break to settle the tie with an aggregate scoreline of 2-2.
Following Kepa Arrizabalaga’s two big saves in a penalty shoot-out, Hazard scored the decisive spot-kick to secure Chelsea a 4-3 win on penalties and a place in the Europa League final.
But the 28-year-old later prompted fresh fears over his future by confessing that he doesn’t know if the final will be his last Chelsea game.
Hazard’s latest comments on his future come shortly after reports in the Spanish media claimed he’s close to reaching a deal to join Real.
“I don’t know, I don’t think so,” said Willian on whether Hazard’s played his last game at Stamford Bridge, via MSN.
“For me, I hope he stays, but in football, you never know. I think his head is here, to play for Chelsea.
“Then after he’s finished the season maybe he can talk about his situation. I don’t know anything about him leaving so for me I hope he can stay.
“He’s very important, a special player, he’s very important for us, he helps us a lot. And he’s one of the best players in the world.”
On Thursday’s win, Willian said: “I’m happy with them, with my team-mates. We always try to do our best job on the pitch, Kepa was brilliant, Hazard was brilliant.
“It wasn’t our best performance but we did what we needed to do to get to the final.”
He added: “It means a lot, one more final. It’s always good to reach a final and fight for titles. We have one more opportunity this season. We got to a final against City but we didn’t win, so now we’ve got to fight for it.”
Hazard and Chelsea will now meet Arsenal in an all-London final on May 29 at Baku for the Europa League. Meanwhile, Liverpool and Tottenham will take on each other in the Champions League final in Madrid just three days later.
“I can believe it,” Willian said.
“For me I think it’s the best league in the world, the Premier League. All of these teams, they have great players doing a great job, and all of them deserve it.”
