Wilshere talks about the club’s ambitions

The West Ham United midfielder believes the team can finish in a European place and can challenge in the domestic cup competitions.

The preseason ahead of the 2019-2020 English Premier League campaign has already started for West Ham United.

And for midfielder Jack Wilshere, the team’s objectives are very clear.

“Last year we started badly but if we’d have started [playing well] earlier we’d have been in a really good position,” he told Football London.

“We need to start well this season. We want to be pushing European places and put in a challenge for a domestic cup too.”

“I’ve won the FA Cup twice and they’ve been good memories in my career,” he added.

“I’ve also lost two League Cups so it would maybe be nice to win that with West Ham – we’ll certainly be doing our best to compete for silverware in domestic cups.”

Pep Guardiola believes what ultimately made the difference in Manchester City's historic 8-0 win over Watford was the quality of his players.

“We’ll see though – because we need to start well in the league before we start thinking about cups,” he continued saying.

“The ingredients do seem to be coming together at West Ham. They’ve got a big stadium, they’ve got passionate support.”

“We finished last season really well. We had a good run at the end and played great football right at the end of the season,” Wilshere concluded.
