With the upcoming match against Wolverhampton at Etihad Stadium, Pep Guardiola wants his Manchester City players to be wary.

Even though it will be a Monday match and we are still a couple of days away from it, it’s inevitable to get excited for the game between Manchester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers from next Monday as Pep Guardiola spoke about it this Friday.

During the press conference from this day after the squad’s training session, the Catalan manager had some very strong praise for Nuno Espirito Santo’s boys and demanded the highest focus from all his players.

The Citizens cannot afford to lose another match in the Premier League this early in the season, because doing so would mean that Liverpool will have an easier road to the title during the most crucial part of the year.

Pep Guardiola knew that winning the game against the Reds last week would only be the beginning of the road for the Citizens, he knows that the match against Wolverhampton is one of the most dangerous ones for them because of how well their rival has been playing this season.

This same squad ha already defeated both Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea in the Premier League so far, they are playing spectacular football and they are considered to be English football’s underdogs.

Maybe they don’t have the fire-power to actually win a trophy this season, but Wolverhampton does have the skill to at least give a few upsets to any squad from the Top 6 as they have already done with two of the biggest London-based clubs.

For Pep Guardiola, staying focused now that they have managed to get out of a negative streak will mean everything for them. Most importantly for next Monday, winning against a squad like Wolves should be a great confidence boost.

“We realized [how good they were] when we played them in the EFL Cup last season and again early this season,” the former Barcelona boss told a pre-match news conference via Four Four Two.

“They are strong physically, good on set pieces, have incredible players on the counter-attack, they don’t just do that with two or three, they have four or five.”

“And when you are tired they can bring on two new players to do that.”

“They defend deep, they switch play, they control many areas and with [Ruben] Neves and [Joao] Moutinho they can shoot from outside the box.”

“That’s why they are doing incredibly well,” he added.

Wolves are coming into this match with their confidence through the roof, as they just completed one of the major upsets of the season in the FA Cup after eliminating Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool at Molineux Stadium.

Just imagining the reaction from everybody if Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad defeated the reigning Premier League champions, is something that people would go nuts over.

But Pep Guardiola does have something slightly wrong, Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho are not the only key players that he needs to beware.

Mexican striker Raul Jimenez is the most important player in Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad this season, he has proved it by being at the very top of the list in regards to goals and assists throughout this breakthrough Premier League season for his career.

If Pep Guardiola isn’t already looking for ways of how to stop him, the Catalan manager has another thing coming his way on Monday at Etihad Stadium.

It should be very interesting to see what the Premier League’s dark horse will be able to do against one of the most powerful clubs in the country.
