Yannick Carrasco has hinted that his time in China may be up following reports linking the Belgian with a move to Arsenal
Yannick Carrasco has given perhaps the biggest hint that he could be set for a return to European football this summer. The Belgium international left Atletico Madrid for Chinese Super League outfit Dalian Yifang. However, it is becoming clear that the 25 year old craves a return to more competitive football.
And Arsenal are really keen on signing the winger. After failing to get anything great out of Denis Suarez’s loan move in January this year, Unai Emery is keen on adding Yannick Carrasco to his squad.
And the Belgian is apparently also very keen on a fresh challenge. During an interview with Spanish newspaper Sport, Carrasco revealed that although he is an important player for the Chinese outfit, it would be great if he was allowed to leave.
“Negotiations are going well. I am aware that I am an important player for the team, but I hope they let me leave.”
“From a personal and family point of view, I would like to return to Europe.”
Carrasco also says that he is confident he would be a success in the Premier League.
“The Premier League is more physical, but there are also a lot of spaces to run into.@
Carrasco left Europe for China in 2018 where he has been a huge success. The winger has scored seven goals in 25 appearances. Arsenal are in dire need of depth in their squad and with someone like Carrasco in the ranks, Emery will have a reliable option to go for.
Although Arsenal are keen on signing the player as soon as possible, it remains to be seen how much Dalian will ask for one of their most prized asset.
