Yaya Toure confirmed that Celtic are indeed interested in signing him and will speak with manager Brendan Rodgers shortly
The 35-year-old midfielder is a free agent after leaving Greek side Olympiakos in December, despite having only rejoined the club three months beforehand.
Reports emerged this week that a move to Scotland was on the table for Toure in Celtic, where his brother Kolo works as an assistant to Rodgers.
And now the former Manchester City star has confirmed the Scottish Premiership champions are interested in his services, but added that further talks will be necessary before an agreement is reached.
“Celtic are a great team, but I will speak to Brendan Rodgers there and we will see what happens,” Toure told Sky Sports.
After arriving from Barcelona in 2010, Toure spent eight years at City with 79 goals and 50 assists managed in 316 appearances across all competitions.
The Ivorian won three Premier League titles, three EFL Cups, one FA Cup and the Community Shield at City before leaving last summer.
