According to Mino Raiola, the Dutch teenager was never going to sign for Barcelona, as many media outlets reported.
Dutch wonderkid Matthijs de Ligt arrived at Turin yesterday to join Italian Lega Serie A champions Juventus.
He is currently undergoing his medical before completing his move from Dutch Eredivisie side Ajax to the Bianconeri.
The move is reportedly said to cost ‘Juve’ as much as €75 million.
And his agent Mino Raiola spoke to the press today, where he said his client was never close to signing for Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona as many have said.
“Barcelona? You all wrote so much bullsh*t!” he told reporters in Turin according to Goal.
“It’s not a question of who wanted him most, but Juve is the best team for him.”
He explained: “For a defender, it is important to come to Italy.”
“If you are to become the greatest in the world, it is a necessary stage.”
“He’s the number one among the youngsters,” he continued saying.
“He’s like [Pavel] Nedved, maybe more than him, for his mentality and he’s like Zlatan [Ibrahimovic] for his ambition.”
“He has it all,” Raiola concluded.
