Nemanja Matic has urged Manchester United to look past their FA Cup upset and refocus on the Premier League top-four race.
Manchester United were knocked out of the FA Cup as they suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Chelsea in the semi-final.
A fair share of the blame for United’s disappointing exit has been assigned to David de Gea, who had a quite forgettable match last night.
Furthermore, fans have also turned up against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for experimenting with tactics in a crucial fixture. Solskjaer made wholesale changes to his starting XI while also dropping Sergio Romero, the usual cup goalkeeper.
Harry Maguire, who put the ball into his own net for Chelsea’s third goal, was also seen getting called out by a subset of fans.
Calling for calm, Nemanja Matic wants his team to quickly recover and start focusing on the upcoming West Ham clash on Wednesday.
Matic told the official club website: “You don’t win always. Sometimes you don’t have your day, you don’t play well and this can happen.
“But we know what we are playing for. So in the future, we cannot allow conceding three goals like we conceded today and I am sure we will learn from this.
“Our focus now is on Wednesday night against West Ham. We have to win that game. In three days we have another challenge and we have to recover as soon as possible.”
