AS Roma take on the challenge of Sevilla in Europa League Round of 16, and will be moving things around in their first-team for the fixture.
Roma were off the pace in Serie A. The Romans finished in a respectable fifth place but were eight points behind the next team.
Paulo Fonseca’s men are out of Champions League reckoning but can still qualify for the elite European club competition. All they have to do is win the Europa League.
To realize this, they will have to get over serial Europa League winners, Sevilla. Fonseca shared that his team are motivated for the competition and are eagerly awaiting the tough test.
“The team is very motivated, we’re in a good period of form and we know it’s difficult against a great team,” Football Italia quoted Fonseca in his press conference.
“I can confirm that Zaniolo will play tomorrow. I haven’t yet decided on Pellegrini, he is an option, as is Bryan Cristante. We’ll see tomorrow. We arrive with absolute faith.”
With Manchester United dishonorably recalling Chris Smalling, Roma are short on defenders. Fonseca also took out time to hail the central defender and believes Ibanez can cover for him.
“Chris was a very important player for us, but he’s not here now, so we have to think about those who are.”
“I have confidence in all the players who are here for tomorrow’s game. Naturally, Ibanez will take Smalling’s place, as he had played well before the injury and I have total faith in him.”
