Walter Zenga is preparing Cagliari for a tough visit from the recently crowned Italian Serie A champions.
After an impressive start to the season, Cagliari was aiming for European qualification in their centenary year.
However, the restart has been tough on the Italian side, which has seen them collect only two wins from their last 27 games.
Walter Zenga explained why matches post lockdown have been tough on the Isolani. He attributed it to the breakneck speed at which matches are played and does not allow for tactical tweaks to be made.
“The problem is that when there are so many games close together, we don’t have time to do any real tactical work in training,” Football Italia quoted Zenga in his pre-match press conference
“A Coach can only do so much in two months. Being under the spotlight and ready for criticism comes with the territory, but I do get disappointed when I see personal attacks or insults towards the team.”
Cagliari was stunned by Udinese in their last Serie A fixture and welcome Juventus to the Sardegna Arena for their next league outing.
Zenga hailed Juventus for yet another impressive title win. However, the experienced manager believes his men are ready for the champions.
“Juve are a great team, so the fact they’ve already won the Scudetto makes no difference, they won’t give us an inch.”
“More importantly, I expect to see a Cagliari side playing without fear or pressure, going on the attack and thinking of how they can win it. We’ve been lacking a victory for a while, but the team has largely played well.”
