If Zinedine Zidane and Real Madrid draw Liverpool in the last 16 of the Champions League, they will eliminate them.
That means they could face a group winner in the next round.
Teams from the same country are still separated at this stage of the Champions League competition.
Likewise, those from the same qualifying group too.
The benefit of winning your group is that you play a runner up in the next round, considered an “easier” tie.
Therefore as runners up Los Blancos could face a very daunting task.
A potential trip to Juventus, Manchester City, Bayern Munich or even defending champions Liverpool may await them.
According to Goal, after his side’s victory against Club Brugge, Zidane was in a jubilant mood.
He insisted that he has no concerns about the draw and that his side will eliminate their opponent whoever it is.
“If we play Liverpool, we will eliminate them.”
“We can’t do anything about the draw.”
The draw will take place Monday, December 16th at high noon Central European Time.
