The French manager says there are three more games left to play and then he can focus on rebuilding the team for next season.

When Zinedine Zidane took charge of Real Madrid the Spanish La Liga season was practically over for Los Blancos.

The team was also kicked out of the Copa del Rey, and former boss Santiago Solari led his team to a defeat in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 against Dutch Eredivisie side Ajax.

Which is why there was no competition left for Zinedine Zidane to fight for, and he hopes the next three matches come quickly so he can focus on the next season.

“We will play these last three games and then this is finally over,” he told TSN in Canada.

“I’ll always defend my players, but not today.”

He explained what happened after losing 1-0 against Rayo Vallecano: “We can’t play like that, and I’m responsible as well. We didn’t do anything. We have to apologize.”

“At least against Getafe we showed some good things, we created some chances.”

“But we didn’t do anything today. Nothing from Minute 1 to Minute 90,” he added.

“We can’t finish like this, with this image. We have to show some respect for the game and for the club. We will have to play better.”

Real Madrid will now play against Villarreal, Real Sociedad, and Real Betis. The team is currently in the third position of the La Liga table with 65 points and even by winning all their matches, won’t even get close to leaders Barcelona, or second-place Atletico Madrid.
