Karim Benzema has been in the form of his life since Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure, with the Frenchman scoring week in and week out.
Didier Deschamps dropped Karim Benzema after a scandal involving his national teammate, Mathieu Valbuena.
Zidane addressed this in a press conference, complaining about Benzema’s treatment in France.
“He’s always wanted to play for the French side. To be honest, I don’t know exactly what’s going on,” Zidane said, according to Daily Mail.
“But from a football point of view, he’s the best. I think he should definitely have a place in the French national team. It’s beyond my role here, but he should definitely be called up.”
France is a bit short up front with Giroud falling out of favor at Chelsea. Ben Yedder is yet to show his quality for the national team.
Kylian Mbappe is now the only reliable option for the number 9 spot in France.
