Zinedine Zidane would not be drawn into a transfer debate when asked about Donny Van de Beek and Christina Eriksen.
Given the poor start to the La Liga season for Real Madrid so far and then the humbling received at the hands of a PSG side without Neymar, Cavani, and Mbappe, there are questions to be asked.
Firstly there is plenty of talk regarding Zidane’s future, after all, he is sat in arguably the least forgiving hot seat in football.
But the talk of Jose Mourinho is more pie in the sky and if, what and maybe.
There have been links with transfer targets all summer, that never materialised or arrived for one reason or another.
It is understood, that the transfer strategy is a bone of contention between, Zidane and the Madrid President Florentino Perez.
So if Zidane is to stay, obviously the solution to the problem is to throw a hundred million Euro’s or so at it to try and fix it.
It has become clear that Real don’t have the money to bring in Pogba, so the aforementioned two would be viable options.
Van de Beek is believed to be valued by Ajax at around 50 million Euro’s, while Tottenham will be glad to get something for Eriksen as he can leave on a free at the end of the season.
In his pre-match press conference, before this weekends La Liga fixture against top of the table Sevilla, Zidane was asked about the two midfielders.

“Eriksen or Van de Beek? That is a matter for the club,” Zidane said ahead of his side’s trip to Sevilla on Sunday.
“The team is what it is. We are the ones that are here and we will compete with what we have.”
