Zinedine Zidane has insisted that Luka Modric is still an important part of his team.
Zinedine Zidane is delighted to see midfielder Luka Modric get on the scoresheet during Real Madrid’s first win of the year in La Liga.
Raphael Varane took the mantle during captain Sergio Ramos’ absence as he scored twice on either side of the half time break against Getafe. Luka Modric also added to the scoreline in the final minutes to seal off a comfortable 3-0 win.
After the match, Zinedine Zidane insisted that he considered the Croatian midfielder to be an important part of the Real Madrid squad while expressing his satisfaction with his team’s performance.
“Modric is such an important player for this team and he’s always going to be,” Zidane was quoted by Marca.
“Luka Modric is Luka Modric. I’m happy for his goal and for that sprint in the 90th minute with Valverde for the goal. That means he’s very good physically.
“I have been saying that we had to be calm with goals,” the French manager added.
“We were a team, which is the most important thing at these grounds and against these teams. We achieved a good result as a team.”
