After their 5-3 victory against Real Betis, Zinedine Zidane paid tribute to Cristiano Ronaldo for his return to form and admits that he is “thrilled” to see him scoring again

It has been largely a difficult season for both Zidane and Ronaldo with the club effectively ruled out of any chance of retaining their La Liga crown this season and were knocked out of the Copa del Rey last month.

However, since the loss against Leganes, things have begun to turn around at the Spanish capital. Real have won four out of their past five matches and have scored an impressive 19 goals in those matches.

Ronaldo himself has scored 8 goals in the past five matches, which has been seen as a welcome relief for the Portuguese star who has been openly questioned on whether his abilities have begun to fade at the age of 33.

“He’s looking good and we’re thrilled to see him scoring and chasing things down up top. We’re heading into the business end of the season and every game is vital. To see all the players looking so sharp is fantastic and I’m very pleased”. said Zidane, according to the club website.

So far this season, Ronaldo has now scored a total of 26 goals and five assists in 29 games all season for Real. Eleven of those goals have been in the Champions League and has now scored a total of 101 Champions League goals, after his brace against Paris Saint-Germain.
