Zinedine Zidane has taken a swipe at Barcelona passing game after he was criticized about his own Real Madrid side’s style of play.

Zidane and Madrid have been under fire this season. This comes despite sitting pretty at the top of La Liga, winning the Supercoppa, and progressing in both the Champions League and the Copa Del Rey.

It’s more than about just winning at a club like Madrid. The fans demand entertaining football.

Having already had a successful stint as manager earlier, and legendary status as player nobody knows this better than Zidane.

The Frenchman is fully aware that what pleases the Barcelona fans is definitely not what makes the Mardidistas happy.

Speaking to the press, he was being criticized for his side’s lack of attacking prowess and domination in a game.

In an interview reported by Goal, Zidane is quick to point out his fans want a style of football that sees their players work extremely hard and give 100% for the shirt.

In a dig at arch-rivals Barcelona, he insisted they are not pacified by a team that passes the ball around.

He said:

“I don’t think the Bernabeu would accept a thousand passes without a shot.”

“Everyone has their own style of play.”

“I played at the Bernabeu and what the fans want to see is their team give their all on the field. It has always been that way.”

“When fans see the team sweat for the shirt.”

“That’s the most important thing in the end because you can’t always win.”
