Zielinski hoping to extend Napoli stay

Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski has confirmed that negotiations and plans to extend his contract with the club have started.

Zielinski has enjoyed his spell under Carlo Ancelotti after enduring a bit part role in the club under his predecessor Maurizio Sarri.

And the Polish midfielder recently disclosed he is enjoying his football in Naples.

“My representatives are discussing my renewal with Napoli and I’m only focused on playing football,” the midfielder was quoted as saying by Football Italia.

“There was a time when I often thought about my future, and that was reflected in my mental state and performances. Now I leave these things to my agent.

“I’m happy at Napoli, I have two more years left on my contract and I want to win something with this club.

“It would mean a lot to the fans and I. It would also be nice to write myself into Napoli’s history.

The Pole was linked to several clubs in Europe before sealing a move to Napoli three years ago. However, he admitted he didn’t speak to former potential suitors Liverpool.

“I’ve never talked to Klopp. There’s nothing to say about Liverpool or anyone else,” he affirmed.

“I’m happy at Napoli. I’m working with a Coach who I’ve learned a lot from. I want to play my best football for the rest of the season and then we’ll see what happens.”

Napoli are in pole position to seal a spot in the Champions League places despite going 13 points adrift leaders Juventus.
