Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane hopes Gareth Bale trained after he was spotted playing golf during the club’s Audi Cup trip.
Following the collapse of his transfer to Chinese side Jiangsu Suning, Zidane left Bale out of Real’s trip to Germany. Apparently, the winger was ill and couldn’t be available to take on his old club Tottenham.
While Real lost 1-0 to Spurs on Tuesday, El Confidencial revealed that Bale was enjoying a game of golf instead. The Spanish news outlet even caught the Welshman in action on camera.
Nonetheless, Los Blancos brushed aside the Bale drama to defeat Fenerbahce 5-3 on Wednesday in a third-place playoff match.
But there was no let-up for Zidane in the post-match conference, with reporters eagerly asking him about Bale’s latest exploits rather than the team’s victory.
“I don’t know. You are telling me something that has surely happened. I’m here with my players, and I’m not going to comment on that. I hope he trained there,” said Zidane, according to AS.
“We are here, thinking about the team. ”

When quizzed on Bale’s attitude, the Real boss replied: “Well, we’ll see when we get back. I will not prevent someone from doing something. He has to look after his responsibilities.
“We will see what he has done in Madrid. I will not get into his personal life. But I think he has done training.”
Zidane added: “I will not tell you if it is disrespectful. You are not going to put me in a position that I don’t want to be in. I will not answer anything more than that.”
Karim Benzema, on the other hand, was the hero for Real on Wednesday by smashing home a hat-trick. Nacho Fernandez and Mariano Diaz were the other scorers as the Spanish giants returned to winning ways against Fenerbahce.
Although the fact that Los Merengues have conceded 16 goals in five pre-season matches will surely be a worrying sign for Zidane.
Next-up for Real will be Red Bull Salzburg for another friendly in Austria on August 7.
