Tendencies has gone towards prominent players accepting bids from a booming industry in Chinese football. The reasons to do say could be many: A new exotic country, a new culture, new challenges and – not to forget – a huge raise in their private bank account.

Mesut Özil now reveals that he rejected a huge bid from the far east, according to his coming autobiography.

— The Chinese were ready to hand me 120 million euros in a 4-year period. An adventourous bid, which stretched beyond my imagination. Despite the bid, it didn’t take me more than three minutes to reject.

Mesut Özil came to Arsenal from Real Madrid in the summer of 2013, and has played 153 matches, with 31 goals and 51 assists in the Gunners-jersey.
